professionals to join our team in Chennai

Job description:

Regional Training Co-ordinator , Pehch n project

Reports to: Program Director, SIAAP

Base: Chennai

Main functions:

The Regional Training Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and
implementation of capacity building components of Global Fund-supported
Round 9, Pehch n project, with the MSM, Transgender and Hijra communities in
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The Regional Training Co-ordinator works closely with the trainers for
developing, designing the training curriculum and ensures the successful
implementation of the training/capacity building activities planned under
the Pehch n programme in the said regions. S/he will ensure the quality of
the training programmes through effective and innovative evaluation methods
and quality control mechanisms.

The Regional Training Co-ordinator, will take responsibility for ensuring
the overall success of the training programmes organised under the Pehch n
Programme. S/he will also be responsible for best practice documentation,
from the lesson learnt.

Specific Duties and Accountabilities:

The major areas of responsibility of the Regional Training Co-ordinator are
as follows:

In close co-ordination with Program Director, provide overall technical
leadership and oversight to the implementation of the training activities
under the Pehch n programme.

In close co-ordination with Training Manager in Alliance, ensure
effective implementation of the training activities under the Pehch n
programme in respective region.

Contribute and incorporate any modifications to the design, and implement
training and capacity building programmes and resources to strengthen the
capacity of SSRs and to address the needs of vulnerable communities, within
the Pehchān programme.

Contribute to the development of Training plan, in coordination with the
Training Manager, for respective regions based on the requirement of the
target audience and keeping in mind their context, language, and the
knowledge level.

Identify relevant external technical support (consultants) that may be
required for carrying out the training programmes in respective region.

Support the Training Manager, in the contracting process for all external
consultants in relation to the training /capacity building programmes.

In coordination with other programme team members develop and implement a
customized quality control framework that ensures trainings under the Pehch
n Programme are translating into quality programmes.

Ensure all trainings and other capacity building initiatives in
respective regions are documented in accordance with PR/SR internal training
reporting procedure.

Ensure that all training programmes at their respective region are
carried out as per the timeline ensuring the quality of the deliverables.

In coordination with other members in the team, maintain the training
file for the region up-to-date and in line with the requirement of the
donor.

In coordination with the Administration/Training Assistant ensure that
all logistic arrangements for the training programmes in the said regions
are carried out effectively.

Work closely with Training Manager to identify best practices from
capacity building programmes, document them accordingly.

Undertake other responsibilities not outlined above which are
commensurate with a role of this nature in the charitable sector and which
have been discussed and agreed with the Program Director.

Essential requirements:

Masters degree in social sciences, health or development field (or
equivalent)

At least 4 years working in HIV prevention programmes, including
experience working with MSM/TG/Hijra populations.

Proven experience in developing and delivering training and capacity
building programmes.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of development issues and the HIV
epidemic(s) in India, particularly in relation to MSM/TG/Hijra populations
and other vulnerable populations.

Knowledge of community systems, common gaps in capacity, and effective
means to build community capacity.

Excellent analytical, writing and verbal communication skills.

Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society and the
government at different levels.

Experience of providing technical support to and capacity building of
organisations, especially those working at the community or grassroots
level.

Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently.

Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel, primarily within
India.

Strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and
rights.

Fluent in English and Tamil

*Desirable qualities/experience/skills:**

Understanding about GFATM reporting procedures and knowledge of the
donor’s strategies and policies.

Knowledge of Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

The position requires a strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and
reproductive health and NGO activities in India, and a strong interest in
and understanding the relevant issues
