There are two ways of zooming in OpenGL:
You can either change the field of view of the perspective camera,
or change the viewport settings (but I recommend to move the camera
closer in that case).

Both have different effects on the depth calculations, of course, and they
"warp" the image differently. Compare with common musicvideos/movies to
see the different effect.
