Ok, i understand. If i understand correctly my decoding logs, it seems that most of http streams provide a "burst" on connection (several seconds of the past) and i was hoping for an inernal/precise way to know how much data from the past i received.
I've set up an external check that seems to be efficient enough.
that + the default settings of avformat_find_stream_info make quite annoying figuring out the exact real time. There is a flag to flush the find_stream_info queue that you might try to use, but I'm not sure it would be what you are looking for. (AVFMT_FLAG_NOBUFFER)
