This has now happened:

http://libav.org/releases/libav-0.7_rc1.tar.gz

Unfortunately, the git repository does not allow me to create new
branches:

remote: -Deny- Creating branches is forbidden.
remote: error: hook declined to update refs/heads/release/0.7
To [email protected]:libav
 ! [remote rejected] release/0.7 -> release/0.7 (hook declined)

Could some root please create the branch for me please?

Besides that, the next steps for releasing 0.7 proper are here:
http://bugzilla.libav.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1#c1

If you feel some commit that has hit master should make it into the 0.7
branch, please drop me a note, preferably as comment to the bugzilla
bug.

If someone feels this deserves a news entry on the website, please feel
free to make one. I currently rather focus on getting rc1 uploaded to
Debian and Ubuntu, and then work on the 0.7 final release.

Cheers!
