I tried the PCM-video in KDEnlive and suddenly there it had sound! Thus, I

I found out that ffmpeg has the -complex_filter astats that could have
detect that this is not a problem.
Does avconv has a similar option?

avplay usually can do the same by plotting the audio spectrum, I wasn't aware of that, I have one of my many github branches about extracting information (ssim and such) from streams but never had the time to merge it back.
