Understood, I just would have imagined you first 
want to compile everything and then disable what 
you don't need, but this is of course possible.

Regarding your problems with arm asm: I cannot 
really help you, but I know that --disable-asm 
is not the right answer.
You could look at http://fate.ffmpeg.org/
There are some configure lines for arm that 
may help you finding the problem.
