I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. GPL means you must distribute your source code, but does not stop you from selling it. GPL doesn't restrict you from doing anything with your code except (a) you must release the source and (b) you may not place restrictions on those using your source except for the fact that they must release their source. It just means that those who don't want to buy your software can get the source code for free.
