I'm of interest to similar problem. As far as I've understood the LGPL it doesn't include static linking with commercial code, though it allows dynamic linking (a DLL). Buying a license to X264 (if you had just that case in mind) you transform GPL'ed software to commercial one, as you've bough a commercial license. Both GPL and LGPL explicitly prohibit to mix their code with commercial code and distribute the result. Therefore the answer is NO.

I'm not completely sure but I believe this is correct interpretation of LGPL and GPL.
