These are the directions I followed. When I bring the compiled libavcodec.a into my xcode project I can compile without errors for the iPhone Simulator but when I try to compile for an actual iPhone device I get this linking
error:

ld: library not found for -lavcodec

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status ld: library not found for - lavcodec
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Your linker flags (Project -> Edit Project Settings -> Build) for
device vs. simulator are different, you're likely missing linker flags
in the device build.

Any idea what the linker flags should be? :-\ I'm a bit of a newbie and haven't had to deal with anything like this before..
