Hello,

I'm very new to libavcodec and the source, but I saw that the newest version of VLC player mentioned GPU decoding in its release notes. This made me curious about a few things:

1. Does libavcodec provide gpu decoding support itself? And if so:

2. Is this done via OpenGL shaders, OpenCL, or CUDA?
3. What codecs are supported?
4. Will gpu encoding support be added in the future?
5. How much faster is decoding/encoding on the gpu?

My apologies if this was asked before, but I didn't see any info in the archives. Thanks in advance.

From what I gathered from the source code and the configure script, the only two gpu accelerated portions of use are in the vaapi, vdpau, and dxva2 sections. I have written CUDA before and didn't see any of it in the source.
