Right, so as far as I'm aware that works the same way for output. Now,
take note of the fact that you might want _streaming_ output, not
seekable output, and that limits the amount of output formats you can
use (as an example, afaik our avi and mov muxers expect seekable
output). But you probably already knew that. ;-).

In all honesty i'm not sure if I want streaming or seekable but my
buffer protocol does not use seeking whatsoever. I'll give it a go,
trial and error seems to be the way ;)
