I'm having some issues with file read performance when using ffmpeg. I'm trying to play RAW video on a rather slow disk (cold start). However the video playback lags and is bottlenecked by av_read_frame.
This would not be surprising in itself, if it wasn't for when using VLC media player the video is played just fine (cold start). As far as I'm aware VLC also uses ffmpeg. How does VLC media player achieve better file read performance?
