Ok. This looks similar to the broken stderr stuff we had this spring.
Have a look at the description at
https://www.libavg.de/wiki/index.php/Libavg_on_Debian_etch_installation_notes#Broken_stderr_workarounds
and see if you can solve the problem that way. If you can, please tell
us - or update the wiki page yourself :-).
