Hi there
we're just getting started here designing our own display
I had a couple of questions in regard to your great tutorial
Building_a_MultiTouch_Console
https://www.libavg.de/wiki/index.php/Building_a_MultiTouch_Console
I like your approach better than FTIR in that it know about when the
hand is approaching the display, as opposed to just touching
Is this an appropriate forum to ask questions about building the
display ? If not, who can we write to, to clarify or compare notes in
regard to some points about constructions ?
Our questions have to do with the camera and the display material
which are both key to getting good results
you say that you originally used a firefly MV camera from point grey
with a wide angle lens
I am a bit confused in that the camera is a 1/3 CCD and the lens is
for a 1/4 CCD. How did the lens you suggest fit in the camera ?
http://www.1394store.com/eshop/product.asp?dept%5Fid=56&pf%5Fid=4382
was your criteria to get the widest angle possible ?
Your tutorial says that is the camera you were using initially
Are you using a different camera now ?
There are good commercial machine vision cameras from:
Hitachi, Toshiba Teli, and Sony - but I guess the availablity of a wide angle
is an issue in construction.
Some vendors sell IR rated lenses -- do we care about the lens being IR rated ?
Probably not at the infrared nm we work at right ?
We are located in the US and were thinking of getting a rear projection screen
from Dalite. You suggest using a rear projection material with a high gain, 1.6
(or higher?) What structure of the material should we be looking for ?
Not the dual vision which has a gain of 1, but one which will diffuse but not
too much right ? Can you please spend a couple of more words on the structure
of the display material ? My understanding is that it should pass a bit of IR
but not too much right ?
thanks much
Samantha
