s-t-f is mostly based in the old gnome-audio package. If you guys had
no problem shipping that license-wise you should be fine with s-t-f as
well.

The license listing in the README file should be complete. At least to
my best knowledge -- I actually spent quite some time contacting
everyone to figure out what the licenses of those files were. I didn't
merge quite a few often-used audio files which had unclear licensing.

So, I do believe that when you acknowledge everything that is written
in that README file and are OK with the choice of licenses you should
be fine with shipping it in Ubuntu. However, I know that Debian is not
OK with CC 2.0 licenses. I have no idea what they did about that -- if
they replaced the files or simply dropped them...

BTW, my interest in maintaining this package upstream equals
zero. Should you guys spend some time on it because CC 2.0 isn't OK for
you either you might as well take over maintainership entirely. Also I
know that Ubuntu used to ship sound files that deviated from upstream
gnome-audio. If you do the same kind of modification for s-t-f then
please consider doing it upstream instead of just downstream. (Hey,
isn't that the recurring theme of Ubuntu contributions as we just heard
gregkh at LPC? ;-))
