I know I promised to reply with respect to GSoC, and I have been quiet. I implemented raw P-W subchannel reading in cued about a week ago for somebody whose drive could not do formatted Q subchannel reading. I also found that some of my drives that do NOT work with formatted Q DO work well with raw P-W. Thus, as Peter suspected, raw P-W may be more widely available than formatted Q. (I have not done a formal statistical analysis, but an informal survey suggests this to be the case.)
Then I had to leave town unexpectedly. My grandmother is in the hospital. I have limited Internet access here. I do not know that I will have time to write up something for libcdio for GSoC before whatever deadlines exist. I will be back home in about a week. Rocky, can you simply add something to the GSoC GNU webpage for libcdio with respect to adding support for formatted Q and raw P-W subcode reading to libcdio? Let me know. If you cannot, I will try to find time to write up something from here. Regards, Rob
