With this, and provided you apply the next extra.c fix (cf. next mail),
you should get working extraction of the Windows 8 preview image on

This seems to be true on x86 Linux (as well as x86 Windows), but not for
ARM Linux...
I just ran a test on an ARM based Linux platform (a Sheevaplug running
ArmedSlack), that has LFS support, but a lot of the extracted files are
getting corrupted, such as /sources/readme.rtf (should be mostly ASCII
text). Many others, such as the > 4GB install.wim, seem to be fine
though, and I also haven't observed any corruption on x86 so far.
I also tested the sample UDF image on the same platform, and the
extracted files were OK. The libcdio tests also looked good. The only
failure I got was:
!ASSERT: file testassert.c: line 31 (main): should not be reached
/bin/sh: line 5: 23287 Aborted ${dir}$tst
XFAIL: testassert
I'll try to investigate some more when I have a chance, though I must
admit that, since my only concern is x86, and x86 looks good so far, the
priority will low.
