1) it should be settled for once and all. So some some deep pondering is
required.
2) in my opinion, for this what if we make it DUAL licensed:
LGPL = so that GPL/LGPL s/w guys and linux distributions are at ease
with it.
BSD = so that commercial/proprietary products can STATICALLY link
libdbi with their products with ease. and then although libdbi-drivers is
currently dynamically linked, but dual licensing it will spawn attempts to make
it statically linkable too.
making it dual licensed will enable anybody to pick it up and do use it as
they want then.
After all, at the end we all just wanna libdbi and libdbi-drivers to be
used/loved by all and without any licensing headaches for using it with their
projects/products, whether he is a open source gpl enthusiast or a vendor
trying to put some proprietary product.
So some steps like that has to be taken . Whatta say?

LGPL is fine with me (Ingres driver & minor contributions to other
drivers).
