I've re-read the google hits, and I mistakenly read a table describing "MySQL configuration options" to be describing MySQL server variables. Indeed it was a table describing PHP settings for MySQL. That is, PHP seems to implement the persistent connection stuff. If that code is portable to a C library, libdbi could use a similar mechanism indeed. regards, Markus -- Markus Hoenicka [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Spam-protected email: replace the quadrupeds with "mhoenicka") http://www.mhoenicka.de ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
