Well, "I don't think so" :-) let's not call it a "Party", then..
1. According to "Internet census data", Internet adoption in the US is at "saturation point". Hence, conditions are ripe for the emergence of a socio-political "mesh network" that expresses and amplifies the voice and concerns of citizens nationwide about local, national, and international issues. This is what's happening now (with little coordination, ans hence, less effectively) with the proliferation of petitions, Facebook pages, etc. One might argue that "il faut " change the "protocol" (how about socio-political BATMAN - better approach to ad Chocolates mesh networking;-) 2. Areas of the mesh where the saturation becomes "overflow" can easily generate candidates for elected office - school board, city council, state legislature, us congress. Out of the continuous activity of the "mesh" leaders would emerge naturally, much as for example a benedictine nun in Catalunya is now an international advocate for the "indignados", independence of Barça's motherland (¡muera el traidor tránsfuga Guardiola! :-), and other important human rights and social justice causes. An interesting experiment in this "meshing" maybe Brazil's "Rede de Sustentabilidade" led by Marina Silva - nobody can say Brazil doesn't have "vast size and economic depth".. Just food for thought..
