That last point certainly sounds like a 50 year-old statement by a cold-war-stricken zealot.

Bureaucrats aren't the brainless, unfeeling beetle-like men described by Orwell in 1984. They are sensible, "objective" architects drawing up blueprints for that island full of cash that awaits them when they're finally ready to step through the revolving door.
