The MSc Practising Sustainable Development (ICT4D specialism) brings
together a community of future responsible leaders in the field of ICT4D.
Participants come from all over the world, and from diverse professional
and academic backgrounds.

To widen their outlook and optimise their career prospects, participants
study both the broader context of development and sustainability as well as
the growing specialist field of information and communication technologies
for development (ICT4D) within it. The course combines cutting-edge
teaching by leading experts (incl. Tim Unwin, Katie Willis, Dorothea
Kleine, David Simon, Yingqin Zheng and David Grimshaw) with rigorous
training in research methods (quant. and qual., including GIS and
participatory video) as well as project design, management and monitoring
and evaluation tools. The emphasis is on participatory, sustainable,
culturally-sensitive, locally relevant, gender-aware and inclusive
approaches and appropriate technologies. Working together, learning takes
place in small groups, in an intellectually exciting and friendly
atmosphere with individual mentoring by faculty, fostering confident and
responsible future leaders in the field.
