ABET accreditation requirements include ethics and some type of contemporary issues awareness. This has to be addressed in the curriculum in at least one course.
This can be, does not have to be, a separate course. It can be more effective as part of another course. To be accredited, the department has to show the accreditation authorities that this requirement is fulfilled.
