Rod.  I too am a Goldwater Conservative and can recommend John 
Dean's new book "Conservatives without Conscience" which pretty much 
defines all the problems with today's poor excuse for what the 
neocons have done to the whole movement.  I think most of us can 
define what has gone wrong with the movement but I believe we must 
work on the why.  What is the motive for the turning away from 
individual freedoms and focusing on this new look at America?  I 
think I have the reason but am usually blown out of the water when I 
mention it.  I was hoping someone here might want to discuss it.  

I've written to Lew Rockwell but have not received an answer to my 
supposition.  I read Lew's article that you mentioned and he has 
outlined very well the problem but not the motive for its 
existence.
