Thank you very much for your well thought response and welcome back. I thought you had left the group. You may have accepted the words of the pro-choice camp, however, which was the point of the article.
I was aware of Dolly Sinatras early life service to young women in the heavily Italian and Catholic area of Hoboken. I was unaware that she had written a pamphlet on coat hanger induced abortion. Ive heard that she was a tough cookie and a reason for Franks tendencies to excesses later in his life. As to coat hanger jobs, while they undoubtedly occurred early on, I could find no evidence that they were a factor much during the 1950s and 1960s but they may have been. One web site, from Vanderbilt University Medical School had a piece about the coat hanger specials, whereby the physician, admittedly pro-life, stated that he challenged people at many meetings and they could not cite an instance. Caveat, he is biased but FYI. If you come up with any other evidence, PLEASE provide it. My point about it, was that the statistics that are being quoted were way off base, no matter your viewpoint. I could find only statistics that supported the contention that the number of deaths in the years immediately prior to California, New York and Roe, were in the 250 to 300 range. The pro-choicers have waved unreliable statistics. And while even 250-300 are high, they were not 5,000 to 10,000. I hope you got something out of the article and your countering views are very welcome. --- sjprice1 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Being that you claim to be a Libertarian, I would > assume you would > be for choices for women, men, gays in all forms of > personal > decisions. I have a lot of hesitancy and a lot of conflict when it comes to the Big A. Take care. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
