Title: Big week: day trip to Phoenix to record a 5-minute stump speech for the ABC News affiliate; online advertising targeted in Arizona starts on the Pajamas Media network of blogs (see the ad following my signature, below); an email blast (see the message fo

We finished production on the last of our four campaign commercials this week, “Resistance,” and it’s viewable in the advertising section of the Web site.  Voters throughout the 1st Congressional District will start seeing these ads tomorrow; our ads will run through mid-week of the primary on 12th September 2006.  (Interested people anywhere in the world can also find these ads on YouTube, where they can also rate the ads (hopefully 5 stars).)

Among this week’s news coverage, the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix reported last week that, “[a]ccording to the Cook Political Report, Congressman Rick Renzi in District 1 in northern Arizona is the fifth ‘most potentially vulnerable Republican incumbent’ in the nation.”  This reflects growing public dissatisfaction with incumbents combined with our strong third-party challenge.  Running ads during the primary season will put us in an even better position in post-primary polling – and will also allow us to highlight favorable public response to the liberty agenda as we replenish our campaign accounts for advertising through October and November.

Last week, I asked you to use the “comments” feature of the blogs and news sites you’re reading to direct people to my Web site.  Please continue these efforts – we’ve developed a tremendous online presence based on this kind of virtual networking.  This week, you can assist by responding to this email with an endorsement of my candidacy that I can post on the campaign Web site.  I’ve received several – long, short, in between – here’s an example:

David is a smart and principled man, and if the entire Congress consisted of people like him then I think we would have better law. If I could vote for David, I would do so not just because of his particular platform – although that has much to recommend it – but also because I think he won’t pigeonhole himself by voting “right” or “left,” but rather by voting wisely.

We’ll keep the endorsements reasonably anonymous (for example, “from Mike, a college classmate”).  For AZ1 voters who don’t know me, these endorsements will give them a sense of what I’m about as they consider their options in the November election.
