I have created <http://trac.liblas.org/ticket/195> as record of this problem,
and it has been fixed in
<http://trac.liblas.org/changeset/16c33aa5bf9d1b371716930ef17b7e40688d3350>
with a test case added to the test suite to continually test this scenario. It
will be released as part of 1.6.0b3.
