yep, howard suspects correctly. with lasinfo from LAStools you avoid the full rewrite. the syntax - although similar - is different: lasinfo -i lidar.las -auto_creation or lasinfo -i lidar.las -set_file_creation 8 2007 cheers, martin @lastools
