Hi Roy,
The problem is it did not give me anything. I ran make run_examples and it did 
not progress. This was with petsc-3.4.2. I was then able to build 0.9.2.1 
successfully and that worked fine.

I am working on installing gcc4.8 on this machine. So this should not be 
problem for too long.

It's been a while since I've tested the git head against anything
older than gcc 4.6 or intel 11.1.  I think I've got the makings of a
gcc 3.4 and 4.0 stack around here, though, so I'll see if I run into
anything building libMesh with those.
