Hello, Frank,
Once again, an excellent post.
Indeed, it is hard to sell liberty abroad when you aren't buying it at home.
Iraq and Afghanistan may well indeed be our Waterloo.

Good evening again, Gordon!

I'm glad there is one 'club member' who even wants to find a way
to 'stop it', as I do! Gordon, you're not crazy at all. You are
probably one of the only sane ones still left around in all of
this mix of things.

The terrile part of what we will be facing in the next several
years, unfortuntely, is that our country is no longer governed by
reasoned minds, and more so, we are governed by, seemingly,
aggressionalists. That is, we want to impose our ideals through
the use of force, including what we are now doing misguidedly, in
the Middle East!

I hope you are still awake, and listening to my simple words
here. You don't 'impose liberty' by force. It is persuasion
rather than force, that finally in the aftermath of all of this,
that liberty will survive, or fail. The very definition of
Liberty is that it isn't imposed by anyone, it is only a given
quality that the human race is given, if it only wants wants to
support and even defend such a reality.

What we find today, in US foreign policy, is a use of tremendous
force to impose liberty, whatever that may have intended, I don't
honestly know, but in in any case, it is imposed by brute and
lethal force, in which real "liberty" cannot be transmitted or
conferred upon anyone without the recipient's desire to affirm
it! Liberty comes from the personal choice to be FREE. It
cannot be imposed upon anyone else. I don't see any of that
happening today anywhere where US troops are in place to insure
than happens for anyone else!

Maybe we should simply learn to live by example. That is,
provide liberty here at home, which we are quickly losing, and
show everyone else that this is how it ought to work!

Kindest regards,
Frank
