Subject: [libraries] Wikipedia and #critlib Twitter Chat - Tomorrow
8/23
Message-ID:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"
Hello All!
Tomorrow at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific there will be a #critlib Twitter
chat
about the relationship between libraries and Wikipedia, moderated by
myself
(@fiiidget ) and Sveta Stoytcheva (@oksveta
), Humanities Librarian at the University
of Hawai'i Manoa. We would love for members of this list to join in!
What is #critlib?
(from http://critlib.org):
*"Critlib is short for “critical librarianship,” a movement of library
workers dedicated to bringing social justice principles into our work
in
libraries. We aim to engage in discussion about critical perspectives
on
library practice. Recognizing that we all work under regimes of white
supremacy, capitalism, and a range of structural inequalities, how can
our
work as librarians intervene in and disrupt those systems?"*
Twitter chats last one hour, and are fairly informal, you are welcome
to
duck in and out as you need. Each chat has a set of 4-6 questions for
participants to reflect on, as well as some suggested readings to
familiarize yourself with the subject. The questions and readings for
tomorrow's chat are available at:
http://critlib.org/wikipedia-critlib/ However,
the only requirement for participating in the chat is using the
#critlib
hashtag on your tweets!
Thanks for the work that you all already do to build bridges between
the
LIS & Wikipedia worlds, and we hope to see you on Twitter tomorrow!
Cheers,
