i'm not a crypto expert by any means.  afaik, things like sha-1 have
been 'cracked' in the sense that collisions can be found with a fair
amount of effort.  even so, there are things like sha-256 that have
not been cracked.  maybe they will someday but how much time/resources
can the RIAA have left?  they're not NSA.

anonymous user data can be safe with a little effort.
