I came back to the problem after finding something I had missed. /etc/hosts
I had libre.fm working before with just the /etc/host when using exaile (and
songbird till the latest upgrade then nothing). Didn't realise it had to be
done with the changes in the wiki.
Thanks for pointing out the bit I missed.

I am using rhythmbox with libre.fm on several computers and never had
problems. did you miss something? /etc/hosts maybe?
