Follow-up Comment #2:
I have found the cause of the problem: Git 1.6.3 introduces spelling
--format=STR to be equivalent to --pretty=format:STR, which is fine for those
who have Git 1.6.3 or later.
The fix, then, is to use the more verbose spelling. I have pushed such a
change to Savannah and am changing the status to "Ready For Test".
