I am comparing the cell selection padding from 24.2 vs 24.8. See the screenshot for how the main selected cell blue border is exactly over the grid in 24.2. In 24.8 however, the blue border of the main selected cell has some padding, thus being drawn over the adjacent cells. I am saying that this looks weird and I prefer the old behaviour.
