It is probably a matter of font substitution. Metrics are different. Part of
the now last paragraph and complete following have been shifted to next page.
There is thus ample space at bottom of page 3 for notes now numbered 1 and 2
(previously 2 and 3 on preceding page).

As I mentioned, this is very tricky and difficult to show. Try decreasing font
size in Body Text to attempt to reproduce. My configuration is 11pt in Body
Text and 10 pt in Footnote.

The main author chose Palatino Linotype which is not installed on my computer.
I forced substitution to GUST TeX Gyre Pagella which is advertised as having
the same metrics.

>From a quick visual inspection, I'd say that your substitution has a taller
line height. My version looks more compact and darker. You could also play with
Body Text line spacing (setting it at ~80%?).
