This enhancement request regards the introduction of commands to apply direct formatting, irrespective of styles. I don't believe that resolving bug 62925 would do that. I suppose, implementation-wise, and remembering that DF is sometimes(? often? always?) implement as an ad-hoc locally-applied style, perhaps the implementation of chart styles would make this easier to implement.
