Bug ID: 168381
Summary: Feature Request - Show only change bars when viewing
tracked changes
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Within a document generation workflow it is often helpful to provide reviewers
with an ODT or PDF that shows where changes have been made. If the document
includes complex changes, it can be hard to see what the effect of those
changes are when insertions and deletions are visible.
For PDFs, it is possible to provide copies with and without the changes being
visible. Similarly, a reviewer can turn "View changes" off within an ODT.
However, this is not ideal as the reviewer either has to manipulate two PDFs or
keep turning "View Changes" on and off.
It would be easier if "Options - LibreOffice Writer - Changes" included a
setting to allow only "Lines Changed" to be visible. It is possible to
configure "Insertions" and "Changed Attributes" to be "invisible" (i.e. show
the final result) by settings "Attributes" and "Color" to "None", but that does
not work for "Deletions" as there is no option to "not show deleted text".
Actual Results:
Tracked changes shows where and what has been changed.
Expected Results:
Track changes should only identify where changes have been made.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
If someone could point me towards the right section of the code, I would be
willing to look at implementing a change for this.
