Bug ID: 168913
Summary: Option to disable red triangle indicators for text
overflow in LibreOffice Calc
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.6.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Hello LibreOffice Team,
I regularly use LibreOffice Calc for spreadsheets with many small cells where
the text is intentionally longer than the column width to maintain an overview.
When importing from Excel, each such cell shows a red triangle at the right
edge as a warning that the text exceeds the cell width.
These red triangles are very distracting, especially with narrow columns and
low row height, as they nearly cover the entire cell. Unfortunately, there is
no option to disable or hide these red warning triangles.
Microsoft Excel does not have this behavior, and it does not interfere with
viewing the data.
I kindly request an option in LibreOffice Calc to enable users to turn on or
off these red triangles for "text overflow".
Thank you very much for the great work on the program and for considering this
suggestion!
Best regards,
Actual Results:
In LibreOffice Calc, a red triangle appears at the right edge of every cell
where the text is longer than the column width.
These red triangles are very noticeable and almost cover the entire small cell,
especially with narrow columns and low row height.
There is no option to disable or hide these red triangles.
This makes the table display cluttered and hard to read.
Expected Results:
There should be an option to disable the red triangles indicating text
overflow.
The table should display without distracting visual markers when users
intentionally use small cells with longer text.
Similar to Microsoft Excel, the text should overflow visibly without intrusive
warnings.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
it´s very important for me. Otherwise i cannot use calc.
