            Bug ID: 168770
Summary: Enable data validation in Calc to accept values
outside the specified cell range, including dates and
                    other types
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]

Description:
In Calc, data validation based on a cell range currently restricts input to
values that exist within that range. This behavior presents users from
entering values such as dates, texts or numbers that fall outside the
referenced cells even when such input may be intentional or contextually valid.

I'm requesting an enhancement that would allow users to define a cell range for
validation reference, but still permit entry of values outside of that range.
This would mirror Excel's behavior, where validation can be based on a range
but does not strictly block out of range entries unless explicitly configured
to do so.

My specific case use involves dates where I want to validate against a range of
cells containing simple dates but still allow manual entry of dates outside of
the range. This enhancement would benefit other types of data as well.
