            Bug ID: 169027
Summary: Offer interface style choice (Classic vs.
                    Tabbed/Ribbon) at first startup
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: LibreOffice
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
Many new users trying LibreOffice find the interface unfamiliar compared to
Microsoft Office and often return to MS Office despite LibreOffice offering
equivalent functionality.

LibreOffice already includes several UI layouts (Classic, Tabbed, Compact
Tabbed, etc.), but the Tabbed UI—which closely resembles the Microsoft Office
Ribbon—is not the default and is not clearly presented to new users. As a
result, users may not discover it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice.
2. Launch it for the first time.
3. The application starts with the Classic toolbar interface without any prompt
to choose a preferred UI.

Actual Results:
Users see only the Classic interface and may assume no Ribbon-like option
exists.

Expected Results:
At first startup, LibreOffice should offer a simple dialog allowing the user to
choose between available interface styles, e.g.:
- Standard (Classic toolbar)
- Tabbed (Ribbon-like)
- ..
This choice should include small preview images and an explanation that it can
be changed later via View → User Interface.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Benefits:
- Improves onboarding and usability for new users.
- Reduces interface-related friction when switching from Microsoft Office.
- Promotes awareness of LibreOffice’s modern UI options.

Additional Info:
This change would not alter functionality or remove any interface options, but
simply make the user aware of them earlier, avoiding that by finding
Libreoffice's layout very different from the current Microsoft Office's they
may decide to get back to it.
