Bug ID: 170467
Summary: Options to Change The Transparency and Outline
Thickness of The Calc Cell Focus
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.8.4.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I am not find the Calc Cell Focus Color to be as useful as I would like on a
very window on a very large screen with a spreadsheet with many small cells.
I would really help if I could lower the transparency (increase the opacity) of
the color for the entire rw and column (not the row and column headers) and
also to increase the cell outline (border) thickness.
Steps to Reproduce:
Calc 25.8.4.2 on Windows 11 Pro 25H2
1. On a very large screen, open Calc
2. Maximize the app to make it full-screen
3. Make all the columns quite narrow
4. Fill the sheet with a bunch of data, with various different cell background
colors and border colors for rows and columns and individual cells
5. In the Menus, Select Tools -> Options
6. Under LibreOffice, select Appearance
7. Under Customizations, select Cell Focus
8. Tap on the Color button to get a Color Picker
9. Select a very Saturated and Bright color
10. Click the Apply button
11. Click the OK button
12. Click on a Cell in your sheet to select it
Actual Results:
Notice how subtle the color you selected in step 9 is as the background color
for the full row and column for the selected cell.
It's just too hard to distinguish the selected cell from all the other
background colors and borders in the sheet.
The Cell Focus background color and the cell outline are just too subtle to
stand out from all the different colored and bordered rows and columns and
cells, even considering that the row header way over there to the left and the
column header way up there at the top are quite visible.
There is no way to change the transparency/opacity of the Cell Focus row &
column background color nor the thickness of the outline (border) for the
selected cell.
Expected Results:
Allow the user to set the opacity/transparency of the Cell Focus Color when
it's used as the background color for the row and column of the selected cell.
And the thickness of the selected cell outline (border)
Maybe even allow the user the option to enable Calc to OUTLINE the ENTIRE ROW
and COLUMN of the select cell, instead of just the cell itself.
Something to make it easier to see the selected cell.
Or maybe even find some other, more distinguishing way to make the selected
cell easier to find. Perhaps let the user choose from **ALL** of the "Format
Cell" options to highlight the selected cell and the row and column. Font,
Font Effects, Borders, Background, and maybe even Alignment.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
