Heiko Tietze <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC|heiko.tietze@documentfounda |libreoffice-ux-advise@lists |tion.org |.freedesktop.org Blocks| |161449 Keywords| |needsUXEval --- Comment #1 from Heiko Tietze <[email protected]> --- This issue consists of four aspects: (In reply to dolezvo1 from comment #0) > The QuickFind search options should not be located in a modal window, as > that adds friction to tweaking the options between searches. Furthermore, > the icon currently used to open the options window is not a good choice. #1: I would agree here. > The Writer's QuickFind has now more search options (these options are useful > and make sense as QuickFind provides a way to view list of the search > result, as opposed to the Search & Replace window). #2: The idea of the sidebar was simplicity first. More options are always available via the dialog. #3a: The patch also introduces a history of search terms similar to how the quickfind toolbar works. Use case might be that "Eve searches for <Foo>, makes some modifications to the document, and searches again. This might sometimes be a long text and typing it again is tedious." #3b: The patch enables auto completion, which is often in my way. Sure, if you search for <Fo...> and <Ba...> you have to type only the leading characters and the right item is picked from the history. But a subsequent search for <Fa...> always shows the previous first.
