Bug ID: 171167
Summary: Impress Slides pane initiates drag operation on any
tiny mouse movement after click
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.0.3 release
Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Hi!
In the Slides pane (the slide thumbnail panel on the left in Normal view),
clicking on any slide thumbnail immediately triggers a drag operation if the
mouse moves even a tiny amount after the click. The drag cursor (closed hand
with document icon) appears instantly, with effectively zero tolerance for
minor mouse movement. This makes simply selecting a slide unreliable, as any
slight hand tremor after clicking causes an accidental drag.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open any presentation in Impress with multiple slides.
In Normal view, click on any slide thumbnail in the Slides pane on the left.
Move the mouse even a tiny amount (1-2 pixels) while or immediately after
clicking.
Actual Result:
The drag cursor (closed hand with a document icon) appears immediately.
Releasing the mouse at this point drops a copy of the slide at whatever
position the cursor has reached, resulting in unintended duplicate slides.
Expected Result:
A small movement tolerance (drag threshold) should be respected before a drag
operation is initiated. A plain click with minor hand movement should simply
select the slide.
Additional Information:
I only found an old thread (2015) with the same problem:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91908
The system GTK drag threshold was increased to 25 pixels via Cinnamon System
Settings > Mouse and Touchpad. This had no effect on the Impress Slides pane
behaviour, confirming that Impress does not respect the system GTK drag
threshold setting and handles drag detection internally with what appears to be
a zero or near-zero pixel threshold.
The problem appeared after a recent LibreOffice update and was not present in
earlier versions.
The issue is specific to the Slides pane. Normal mouse operations elsewhere in
Impress are not affected.
System configuration:
Version: 26.2.0.3 (X86_64)

Any feedback would be appreciated!
