Bug ID: 171376
Summary: Adjacent cell border 'interaction' - dialog
inconsistent with sheet rendering
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.8.4.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Keywords: needsUXEval
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Blocks: 59284
Reproduction (or rather, illustration) instructions:
1. Create a new Calc spreadsheet.
2. Choose an arbitrary pair of cells, one above the other; say, B2 and B3.
3. Enter the Format Cells... dialog for B2, Border tab.
4. Set B2's bottom border to Solid, Extra Thick, Light Orange 1.
5. Exit the Format Cells... dialog for B2, Border tab.
6. Enter the Format Cells... dialog for B3, Border tab.
7. Set B3's top border to Solid, Extra Thick, Light Blue 1.
8. Exit the Format Cells... dialog for B3, Border tab.
9. Enter the Format Cells... dialog for B2, Border tab.
Expected behavior:
-------------------
One of two consistent behaviors is expected.
If the setting the Blue top border of B3 completely exactly replaces the Orange
bottom border in the rendering after step (7.), and if each of those borders is
drawn symmetrically between both cells (after steps (5.) and (7.) respectively,
i.e. half of its width is within B2 and half with B3, then the replacement
should also be reflected in the cell properties - i.e. the top border of B3
should be the bottom border of B2, so that after step (9.) we see a Light Blue
1 bottom border for B2.
Alternatively, if the after step (9.) we still see a Light Orange 1 bottom
border for B2, then after step (7.) we need to see two stripes of color, Orange
and Blue, one above the other, or a uniform color, but some kind of average of
the two colors, etc. That would mean both distinct borders are rendered.
Actual behavior:
-------------------
After step (5.), we see an Orange border, symmetric.
After step (7.), we see a Blue border, symmetric, where the Orange border was
before.
After step (9.), the Border tab of the Format Cells... dialog shows cell B2 has
a Light Orange 1 bottom border.
PS - This may not be only a Calc bug, but I'm not sure whether it's appropriate
to bunch border behavior in other modules in this bug to keep it separate.
