Bug ID: 172181
Summary: Grabbing a fill handle in Calc UI and dragging down
jumps the scroll position up randomly overwriting
unintended cells
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.3.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
A few months ago a LibreOffice Calc update landed in Fedora that for me caused
the following issue: whenever I dry to drag down from a fill handle to fill
rows quickly, the scroll position of the window wants to go all the way to the
top which makes it extremely difficult to use the fill handles (sorry if this
is the wrong term, I don't know what it is really called).
So I have to be extremely careful and fight with the scroll position a ton
whenever I want to use a quick way to fill a bunch of rows with data.
I saw a big update in Fedora 44 for LibreOffice Calc a few weeks ago but it did
not fix this issue so I decided to report it. I tried looking at the latest bug
reports with mouse and drag in the name and I didn't find any report about this
yet. But sorry if this is a duplicate.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. I have a column of dates in a LibreOffice Calc sheet
2. I've scrolled down to get to the last row with data
3. I grab the bottom right fill handle (sorry I don't know the real term for
it) and try to pull down
4. I see the window scrolling up by itself for no apparent reason
Actual Results:
Instead of pulling down normally, my scroll position jumps up a ton and and I
have to fight really hard with the scroll wheel to keep my position.
It seems if I stop moving my mouse and only use my scroll wheel to fix the
position then I can use it correctly, but any movement of the mouse tries again
to force the scroll position up.
Expected Results:
There should be no automatic scrolling up when my mouse is nowhere near the top
edge of the window and while I'm holding to drag. This is how it used to work
like 2-3 months ago, so I think there's been some regression in mouse position
detection and it now thinks that whenever I drag a fill handle it always thinks
my mouse is at the top edge and tries to scroll up, even though my mouse is
about 2/3rds down the window so nowhere near the top.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Version: 26.2.3.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 620(Build:2)
CPU threads: 32; OS: Linux 7.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8); UI: fi-FI
Calc: threaded
This might be related to window position or Wayland? But even if I put the Calc
window on another one of my monitors it doesn't seem to resolve this issue.
