"Profile" and "Identity" both imply a short biographical summary, and wouldn't include things like user settings or templates. As an established IT term, "User Profile" would be a reasonable substitute, but it again uses the same noun adjunct that causes this translation problem. The strings Heiko mentioned also sound awkward if substituted in this way. The message "No user data available" makes the situation clear to me: I need to configure something. "No identity available" reads like a generic internal software error I'm not supposed to understand. In this case, the noun adjunct is important for indicating who is responsible for fixing the issue. It can't be left out without changing the meaning of the string. I think it would be better if translation teams came up with their own language-specific style guides for resolving these issues.
