Bug ID: 172273
Summary: Locking document for editing does not work well on a
new document until you save it
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
If you create a new .odt document in Windows Explorer and open it in
LibreOffice, make a few edits and then try to open the same document again from
Windows Explorer, LibreOffice will open another instance of the same file
without notifying you that the first instance is already open. This can lead to
data being overwritten.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new empty .odt file in Win Explorer (right click). Rename the file
(e.g. to 1.odt)
2. Open the file in LO Writer
3. Write few words. DO NOT SAVE the file.
4. Try to open the same file from Explorer
Actual Results:
You become another instance of the same file. This means, the file is not
locked for editing until saved.
Expected Results:
When opening a file for the second time, the instance of the file that is
already open should be brought to the front of the window (behaving the same
way as when the file has already been saved).
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
I have tested this behaviour also with .ods file, but there is this bug not
present.
