Bug ID: 172497
Summary: Improve Impress Presenter Console slide overview
scrolling, current slide position, and click behavior
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.4.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Impress
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I would like to request improvements to the LibreOffice Impress Presenter
Console.
The slide overview panel is useful, but navigation feels limited during
presentations. It would be helpful if the slide overview supported mouse wheel
scrolling, remembered the current slide position, and limited previous/next
slide click behavior to the actual slide preview areas.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a LibreOffice Impress presentation with many slides.
2. Start the slideshow using Presenter Console.
3. Open or use the slide overview panel.
4. Try to scroll through the slide overview using the mouse wheel.
5. Move to a later slide, such as slide 20, then open the slide overview again.
6. Click on the gray background area in Presenter Console while using
previous/next slide navigation.
Actual Results:
The slide overview does not scroll using the mouse wheel. It mainly requires
using the scrollbar with the left mouse button.
When opening the slide overview while on a later slide, such as slide 20, the
overview starts again from the beginning instead of showing the current slide
position.
Mouse clicks for previous and next slide navigation can also affect the gray
background area, which may cause accidental slide changes.
Expected Results:
The slide overview should support mouse wheel scrolling.
When the user is currently on a later slide, such as slide 20, the slide
overview should open near that slide instead of resetting to slide 1.
Mouse click navigation for previous and next slides should apply only to the
current slide and next slide preview areas, not the gray background area.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
This would improve navigation in Presenter Console, especially for large
presentations with many slides. It would also make live presentation control
smoother and reduce accidental slide changes.
