Bug ID: 172515
Summary: Toolbar drop down button small area to click
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.2.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Toolbar contains drop down button icons.
Some examples of these buttons are
-Save
-Font Color (opens color picker dialog drop down)
-Background Color (opens color picker dialog drop down)
These drop down buttons contain two sections
-Button/Icon
-Arrowhead pointing down to the right of the button/icon
Arrowhead sections can be a rather tiny area for user to click on, especially
if have a task where need to use them repetitively.
This action really requires user to have to overly focus to put mouse on a tiny
button section in order to access these drop downs.
Actual Results:
Expected Results:
I was thinking it could be helpful to maybe offer a few different ways for the
user to access these drop downs from the toolbar.
-First off, Left Mouse Button click on the drop down arrow as it currently
functions by default would obviously remain as is/still be available to users.
-Most of the following ideas would be allowed to be performed on both sections
of these drop down style buttons (button/icon + drop down arrow section)
-The first thought would be to allow a Right Mouse Button click to be performed
on the icon, but unfortunately LibreOffice toolbar already uses this mouse
button for its own context menu.
SOME POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
-MMB (I do not this is this being used for any functionality?)
-CTRL+LMB
-For some of the more commonly used drop down buttons, such as
`Background Color` color picker dialog, shortcut keys could be made available.
In the past I created the following post #169768 suggesting that a shortcut be
made available for this action but has not received any responses.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
